RUIM

The housing shortage is driving many people to madness. We squeeze ourselves into 7 m², sublet temporarily, compete in house-share interviews, and wait while endlessly collecting WoningNet points.

Four dancers navigate a world that's teetering: they slide, fall, struggle, climb, and squeeze between crooked walls. With raw acrobatics and boundless imagination, they challenge themselves to create space within tight confines. Without anything to hold on to, at each other’s expense or with each other’s support.

RUIM is an acrobatic and intimate dance performance about creativity in a system that has come to a stand still. A celebration of resilience and the endless search for what "home" truly means. Because when the dust settles, one question remains:

‘What makes a house a home — and what are you willing to sacrifice for it?’

“So fierce, so graceful, so perfectly balanced in its aggression – what an extraordinary company. With individual acrobatic feats and astonishing ensemble work that radiate courage and absolute trust in one another … the spectacle of MAMM is unforgettable.”
